One of the greatest actors ever to be seen on the big screen,Al Pacino is a true LEGEND.He established himself during one of film's greatest decades, the 1970s, and has become an enduring and iconic figure in the world of American movies. If you haven't seen any of his movies yet, then here's bringing you the top 5 movies of the charismatic actor/star AL PACINO.

Dog Day Afternoon (1975)
Based upon a real-life story that happened in the early seventies in which the Chase Manhattan Bank in Flatbush, Brooklyn, was held siege by a gay bank robber, this movie is a true classic:).Al pacino as Sonny Wortzik, gives one of the finest performances ever witnessed on the big screen. He literally carries the entire movie on his shoulders with an electric performance and unbelievable lunatic energy:).Thanks to its strong performances and a comical script, this is a must watch:).

The Godfather : Part II (1974)
What happens when two of the greatest actors ever seen on screen team up with a director who knows his job well?It results in pure MAGIC,which is what The Godfather part 2 is if put in a single word.Yes,it is long(3hours,20 minutes),yes,it has a slow pace, but if you really want to know what style is all about, what performance is all about, what screenplay is all about, what direction is all about, then you won't find a better eg. than this.Al Pacino(one of his best performances ever),gives a silent but effective performance as Micheal Corleone, but its Robert De Niro(as the young Vito Corleone) who steals the show:). He performs such a difficult role with such natural ease,as if he was born to do this role. For all the above reasons, this movie is a must watch. If you haven't seen this, you haven't seen anything:).

Genre:- Crime, Drama.
Prerequisites:- Only watch this after watching The Godfather.
Oscar Buzz:-
Won 6 Oscars(Best actor in a supporting role,Best Art Direction-Set Decoration,Best Director,Best Music- Original Dramatic Score,Best Writing-Screenplay Adapted From Other Material,Best Picture.)
5 Other Nominations(Best Actor in a Leading Role,Supporting Role,Supporting Role(2),Best Actress in a Supporting Role,Best Costume Design).
Bore Meter:-Its a long movie(3hrs 20 minutes),also has a slow pace.Watch when you have patience, and you will be duly rewarded:).
My Rating:-

 The Godfather (1972)
Considered by many as the best movie ever made,The Godfather is the reason why the word classic was associated with cinema. This movie basically shows the life of a New York Mafia family,"The Corleone Family ",headed by Vito Corleone.Beautifully directed by Francis Ford Coppola, one of the best performance ever seen on screen by Marlon Brando(as Vito Corleone),and excellently supported by Al Pacino and James Caan, this is a true masterpiece:).

Genre:- Crime, Drama.
Oscar Buzz:-
Won 3 Oscars(Best Actor in a Leading Role,Best Writing-Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium,Best Picture.)
8 Other Nominations(Best Actor in a Supporting Role,Supporting Role(2),Supporting Role(3),Best Costume Design,Best Director,Best Film Editing,Best Music-Original Dramatic Score,Best Sound.)
Bore Meter:-Its a long movie(roughly 3hrs),also has a slow pace.Watch when you have patience, and you will be duly rewarded:).
My Rating:-

Scent of a Woman (1992)
After being nominated 7 times previously,Al Pacino at last won the much deserved Oscar with his 8th nomination for playing the role of Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade in this movie. Here,a prep school student Charlie Simms(played by Chris O'Donnell) needing money agrees to "babysit" a blind man(Al Pacino), but the job is not at all what he anticipates. Its a movie which will please you and keep you smiling, but primary reason this works is because of Pacino's performance:).

Genre:- Drama.
Oscar Buzz:-
Won Oscar(Best Actor in a Leading Role.)
3 Other Nominations(Best Writing-Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published,Best Director,Best Picture.)
Bore Meter:- Has Decent enough pace to keep you in your seats:).
